So as most of you know, Youtube is going down the pan.

A lot of the top youtubers have made videos about how they have lost up to 100,000 subscribers in the past week and how they want youtube to ‘stop fucking about and fix it’ … obviously im paraphrasing.

But I’ve noticed a drop in my own subscribers ranging from 4 - 8 a day. 

I currently have 1257 subscribers, If I continue to lose 8 a day, that’s 56 per week. within 6 months I’ll have lost everything.

A lot of people will argue its not about the subscribers, But i disagree. I disagreed with the inactive account cull to begin with, as we all worked hard to achieve the numbers we had. then youtube went and took it away like it meant nothing. They are now automatically unsubscribing people from our channels and its not fair on US or the viewer, who actually want to watch.

I urge you all, If you have ever been subscribed to me, please check if you still are. I am finding this loss hard as well as the big youtubers are. I am actively checking I havnt been unsubscribed from people and I urge you all to do the same!

Something I want to talk to you about today is Youtube next Vlogger

Now I am in no way slating this program because it is an amazing program and the 16 people that won, they’re awesome youtubers.

But the thing is

A lot of them, are already TOP youtube partners.

To name three people that i find to be ‘Big Youtube partners’

Are Danisnotonfire, Amazingphil and Ksicsfaces

Now, granted they dont have MILLIONS of subscribers

but they each have over 100,000 subscribers and they all get over 100,000 views per video.

Now since youtube got rid of the featuring system and just introduced things like On the rise, next up and all these other programs to promote youtubers.

it seems like they are not promoting just anyone

Its always youtubers that get voted on by their mass subscribers

Like on next up

people have to submit themselves, they get then picked by the youtube team and all their subscribers have to go and vote for them every day just to make them win.

and thats not what i think it should be about.

personally i think it was better when everyone had the chance to be featured 

Arguably each partner has the chance to be featured on the front page, yes.

BUT, thats not what it should be about.

Every youtubers that makes content should have the chance to be featured on the front page.

and not just people who win these next up programs because of their mass subscriber counts and not just the people that are partners and the people that are with networks and stuff like that.

I’m a partner and i’ve never been featured on the front page and ive never won any type of program like that.

I did apply for next vlogger however

but i didint even get approved

I got an email from them saying ‘Sorry we had a lot of submisdsions and we couldnt process yours’

Which is fine, they could only pick 16 people and they didnt pick me, so its fine. 

But the way that these work, is you have to vote. So if I had one, I wouldnt have stood a chance.

Especially seeing as I’d be running up against people with 100,000 subscribers, 200,000 subscribers, just thousands and thousands of subscribers I only have 1200 and not even all of them watch. 

So I think the whole Next upa nd next vlogger thing is a GOOD idea but i think they should lower it to be smaller youtubers.

People like amazingphil and danisnotonfire they’ve been on youtube for a long time, they’ve already got a massive audience and they’re already BIG on Youtube. Especially in the UK.

they can expand and get business opportunities on their own they dont really need youtube to help them.

YES, it would benefit them and their career paths, but danisnotonfire and amazingphil are working with radio 1 they already have good business going on. Now I love amazingphil and danisnotonfire dont get me wrong.

I’m not picking on them to be horrible, im picking on them because they’re the biggest youtubers that I know of that won Next Vlogger.

Youtube jsut seems to focus on the big guys and us little guys we are just forced to look up in awe, we dont get any of these program opportunities and if we did we’d be the underdogs.

So my OPINION on this is Youtube should focus more on featuring the little guy, bringing FRESH content to the surface.

People that are actually on the rise.

I mean the On the rise program is a good idea because its actually people that are rising naturally and fluidly and then they’re just featuring them on the front page, which is great!

But things like next up where we have to vote for them, I just don’t think thats right. Because its just a popularity contest and the featuring system was NEVER a popularity contest, It was just GOOD content getting featured on the front page and now thats kind of gone.

And its not … fair.
